The Student Union provides many kind of services for it's members. VYY's sauna and conference facilities "Leipis" are situated in the very center of Vaasa, and are available for inexpensive rental for the members. VYY also has an agreement of cooperation with Europcar for rental of vans at a discount. Various sports needs of the students are met by combined resources of VYY and some other student unions of Vaasa. Health care is provided by VYY through the national Students' Health Care Foundation. To give balance to all the studying, VYY organises parties and cultural events.

STUDENT CARD
Lyyra student card with an academic year sticker tells that you are a member of VYY and have  registrated for the academic year to the University of Vaasa. With the student card you get all the local discounts and other student discounts, for example from VR and Matkahuolto. Only by showing your valid student card you'll get the meal subsidy in student restaurants which are subsidized by Kela (The Social Insurance Institution of Finland).

New students order their cards from Lyyra's webpages. Senior students get a new academic year sticker to their cards from the Univerisity's student office after they have registrated for the next academic year or semester. The students that study at the University of Vaasa can only get a valid academic year sticker to a student card which is issued by VYY.

BUSINESS COOPERATION
To ensure the best possible member benefits, VYY cooperates with business life. Participating in a manpower bank is possible for members. The chosen partner for cooperation in restaurants is the Oy Fondis Ab, whose premises are used for example as the venue for VYY's parties.

You can get the benefits' stated with student card that has a valid academic year sticker from VYY. The benefit is individual and pertains to one drink at a time (according the finnish alcohol legislation). Student card has to be shown before ordering.
