THE STUDENT UNION OF UNIVERSITY OF VAASA (VYY) - YOU, ME AND US TOGETHER

In Finland university students are represented by Student Unions. The Student Union of the University of Vaasa is formed by proximately 4000 students completing their Bachelor's or Master's Degree at the university. The Student Union which is known as VYY among the students offers supervision of their interests, organizes events and provides services to it's members.

The Student Union's most important responsibility is to look after the student's interests on campus, in the city as well as nationally. For example the Student Union chooses students to represent the whole student body in different decision making groups. This task is given to the Student Unions by the Finnish Law.

The international students completing their Master's at the University of Vaasa become automatically members of VYY. The Student Union charges an annual fee from it's members. For exchange students it is voluntary to join the Student Union. If they do become members, they also need to pay the fee.
