Student Union fee payment
STUDENT UNION FEE
All degree students of the University of Vaasa, both Finnish and international, are required to join the Student Union of the University of Vaasa (VYY = Vaasan yliopiston ylioppilaskunta). When registering as an attending student you are asked to pay the Student Union fee of 110.00 euros (whole academic year 2010-2011) or 55.00 euros (autumn/spring semester) before the registration can be accepted.
After paying the Student Union fee, you can enroll to and attend courses in addition to receiving marks for the completed study attainments e.g. examinations. As a member of the Student Union you are also entitled to student discounts and are able to use the services of the Finnish Student Health Service (YTHS) as well as other services provided by the Student Union of the University of Vaasa. HOW TO PAY?
OPTION 1
Paying through the WebOodi system
(University email user ID & password and Finnish bank account with internet banking required)
Log in to WebOodi system, available at https://saaga.uwasa.fi, with your university email user ID and password (system language can be changed to English)
Register for academic year 2010-2011 (found under Other functions – Reg. For terms)
The system will direct you to your bank's (Nordea / Sampo / OP / Säästöpankki) internet service where you need to pay the Student Union fee with your internet banking service keys (password numbers you've gotten from the bank)
NOTE!
After registration please log on to your bank account's internet service and print out the payment details of the Student Union fee payment for future reference.
OPTION 2
Paying by bank account transfer
From a Finnish bank account OR at a Finnish bank
Beneficiary: Vaasan yliopiston ylioppilaskunta
Amount: 110 € for full academic year/55 € for fall semester only (spring fee can be paid later on)

NOTE!
Due to bank procedures the name of the beneficiary must be in Finnish.
If the payment is made from an account which is not in the student's own name reference number should be replaced by the student's name and his/her student id (X12345).
Please make sure you either receive or print out a receipt of the payment for future reference.
When paying in cash at the bank, additional 4-6 € will be charged by the bank.

OPTION 3
Paying in cash (bills & coins only, payment cards will not be accepted)
Visit the Student Union office at the Domus Bothnica building (situated on the University campus, address Yliopistonranta 5) during the office hours from Tuesday to Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm to make payment in cash.
DURING REGISTRATION PERIOD ALSO OPEN
from 8 am to 4 pm
on Thu 26th, Fri 27th Mon 30th and Tue 31st of August 2010.
NOTE!
Please make sure you receive a receipt of the payment for future reference.
AFTER MAKING PAYMENT
After paying the Student Union fee of 110 € / 55 € visit International Office to show your receipt. In the International Office you will receive a new certificate of attendance including the information of the paid fee. After confirming the payment, International Office will also be able to register you in the University system as an attending student and you will be able to start your studies.
On campus the certificate including the information of the payment together with the receipt will serve as proof of your Student Union membership until your student card arrives. Please remember to attach the certificate and the receipt together and keep them with you. In case of any problems arise with your student card or Student Union membership during your stay, you may be asked to present the original receipt of your payment.
You will also need your certificate if attendance when visiting the magistrate, police station and bank.
Please note that the Student Union fee must be paid and the receipt of the payment shown by Wednesday 1st September 2010.
LYYRA STUDENT CARD
The Lyyra student card acts as a membership card of the Student Union of the University of Vaasa. The student card is also your proof that you are entitled to get student discounts. Students are strongly encouraged to apply for it after paying the student union fee.
